Jesus Wept
March 2nd, 2008John 11:17-37
1. Problems.
- Lazarus had been in the tomb for four days! John 11:17
- The Jews who had been trying to kill or engineer the death of Jesus were close by.
- John 11:18-19Everyone was in deep mourning.
2. Where were you Jesus?
- If you had been here, my brother would not have died. Mary and Martha spoke the same words. John 11:21,32
- Some of them said,“Could not He who opened the eyes of the blind man have kept this man from dying?” John 11:37
- To follow Jesus as Lord is to be content to be on His schedule.
3. Amazing actions and promises.
- Mary fell at Jesus feet weeping for the death of her brother. Jesus, seeing the distress of Mary and the Jews was deeply moved in His spirit and troubled to the point that he broke down in tears. John 11:33-35
- Jesus is moved by the sorrows of His people.
- Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me willlive, even though he dies; and whoever lives and believes in me will never die.” Jn 11:25-26
