The Glory of God

John 11:38-44

1. Thinking outside the box.

  • Jesus told Martha that her brother would rise again, (11:23) but she didn’t understand so she spoke against rolling the stone away. John 11:39
  • In the same way Jesus disciples did not understand when He spoke of His coming death.
  • For many people salvation by grace generates a similar misunderstanding.

2. The Glory of God.

  • Jesus said, “Take away the stone.” John 11:39
  • Jesus called in a loud voice, “Lazarus, come out!” 11:43
  • The dead man came out, his hands and feet wrapped with strips of linen, and a cloth around his face. John 11:44

3. That you might believe.

  • Jesus spoke to His Father before the people that they might be clear that Jesus came from God. Jesus spoke aloud that they might believe in Him. John 11:42
  • Because of this miracle many put their faith in Jesus. 11:45
  • Do you believe in Jesus?
