A Lavish Gift

John 12:1-11

1. An extravagant gift.

• This gift was worth a year’s wages. John 12:5
• This gift was given in full view of all gathered. John 12:3
• This gift was very personal.

2. A misunderstood gift.

• Surely this gift could have been better used! John 12:5
• Why wasn’t it used for my project?
• People thought the gift was too much.

3. An appreciated gift.

• Jesus said that Mary had gotten it just right. John 12:7
• Jesus said that Mary’s gift would be remembered well.
• Jesus loved the gift Mary gave to Him.
