Isaiah 40:3 Luke 1:76-77

1. Preparing the way. Isaiah 40:3

• A voice calling, prepares the way.
• God can make the voice of one crying in desolate regions effective for preparing the way of the Lord.
• A voice calling can straighten out the difficulties.

2. John; the prophet foretold.

• It was foretold that John would give the people knowledge of salvation. Luke 1:77
• Salvation comes through the forgiveness of sins.  Luke 1:77

3. And this was the prophet’s message.

• John will go before the Lord, to prepare the way for him. Luke 1:76
• John preached a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins. Mark 1:4
• And this was his message: “After me will come one more powerful than I, the thongs of whose sandals I am not worthy to stoop own and untie. I baptize you with water, but he will baptize you with the Holy Spirit.” Mark 1:7-8
