Prayer Changes Us

Nehemiah 1:1-11

“Don’t be afraid,” the prophet answered. “Those who are with us are more than those who are with them. II Kings 6:16

1. Nehemiah focuses on the right subject.

• The word awesome is over used today, but Nehemiah gets it right. Vs 5
• God’s covenant with us is one of love! Vs 5
• Because of your love for us, please hear us! Vs 5-6

2. Nehemiah recognizes sin.

• As we focus on God our own sinfulness comes into sharp view.
• Nehemiah identifies with his people realizing that all of them bear responsibility. Vs 6-7
• Nehemiah throws himself on the promises of God.

3. Is anything to hard for our God?

• Nehemiah asks God to remember His promises to His people. Vs 8-9 He prays the scriptures!
• Nehemiah recognizes that God has a purpose, and that he might be called to play a part in fulfilling that purpose.
• Nehemiah now needed to be on the look out for how God might choose to answer his prayer.
• Like Nehemiah, let us be praying and let us like him be looking for the ways to partner with God as he answers our prayers!
