Nehemiah 6:1-14

1. Those who are successful become targets.

  • Nehemiah faced problems from within in chapter 5 and now in chapter 6 he faces troubles from the outside.
  • We can tend to think that if we are doing things right, life will be smooth and struggles will be easy, but I don’t know why we think that. There is not a speck of evidence for this kind of thinking in the scriptures. “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” John 16:33

2. One enemy three types of attack.

  • Deception 6-2
  • Threat 6:6-7
  • Betrayal 6-10

3. Nehemiah’s principles preserve his life.

  • Nehemiah is willing to face conflict, be misunderstood and perhaps even loose his life to honor God.
  • Nehemiah speaks the truth and trusts the truth.
  • Nehemiah prays into the heart of the problem. 6:10
  • Nehemiah is wise.
  • Nehemiah is willing to let God meet out punishment. 6-14
  • Nehemiah was willing to stand-alone against all the other prophets. 6-14
