God’s Plan

April 12th, 2009

1. In the Beginning, God…

  • We bear His image, His design, His stamp.
  • Good gifts entail risk. Nothing ventured, nothing gained.
  • From good, good, good… very good… to broken.

2. The Result of Disobedience (Sin).

  • From life to death. If you eat of it you will die!
  • The most grievous loss, was the loss of the easy fellowship of the garden; we were estranged ourselves from God.
  • From loving family, to shame, fear, blame, loneliness and hiding.
  • From gentle sunshine and moist rain to burning sun and flash flood.

3. The Law and It’s Limits.

  • God called Abraham. God said, “follow me and I will bless you and your children and theirs.” He promised them a future and a hope.
  • God gave the law, it was a road map showing how to do right.
  • The difficulty with the law is that it is most effective for showing us that we were unable to do right.
  • The story of Abraham’s family until the time of Jesus is largely one of failure; yet in the midst of the futility the prophets spoke words from God concerning a hope to come.

4. The Coming of the Messiah.

  • At the right time while we were yet lost, Jesus came.
  • He did not come primarily to preach to or teach us to heal or even to feed us, neither did he did come to be an example… He came to die for us.
  • Jesus death pays the penalty for sin that all who turn to him might be washed clean, freed from the penalty of sin.
  • Death comes to all who sin, Jesus alone was without sin, therefore when he gave his life for us a payment was made!

Admit… Believe… Count the Cost… Do!
