What a Savior

Colossians 1:1-14

1. By the Will of God.

• Paul is what he is by the will of God. Colossians 1:1
• Paul extends grace and peace to the believers in Colosse, grace and peace that can come only from God our Father.

2. Thankful hearts.

• Paul has an attitude of gratitude as he comes to prayer. 1:3
• Our hope of heaven is a firm foundation for true faith and love. 1:5
• The word of truth speaks of this hope, and this hope is growing all over the world! 1:6
• God has qualified us for an inheritance in heaven, he has rescued us from darkness, and brought us into the kingdom if the Son he loves. We are redeemed, forgiven and restored! 1:12-14

3. Words for followers of Jesus today.

• God desires to fill us with knowledge of his will. 1:9
• Prayer mixed with the word of truth can bring spiritual wisdom and understanding that we might live a life worthy of our lord. 1:9-10
• We are called to good works, to growth, and to strength, not our strength but the strength that God supplies. 1:10-11
