I Corinthians 4:1-21

1. It is the Lord who judges.

  • To the one entrusted with the secret things of God, man’s judgment is a small thing. 4:1,3
  • In God’s time everything will be revealed, wait for it. 4:5
  • The Lord will bring to light what is done in the darkness and even expose the motives of the heart. 4:5

2. Humility.

  • We have only what we have been given by God, why then should we be proud of what we have been given? 4:7
  • The Corinthians were proud, thinking that they had surpassed the apostles. 4:8
  • Paul warns them that they need to imitate him, rather than be puffed up in their own conceit. 4:16

3. Real power.

  • Paul practiced what he preached, his life was congruent.17
  • There is power in a life that is congruent. 4:20
