I Corinthians 6:1-11

1. Making Judgments.

  • When believers have a dispute, it should be settled from within the church not from the outside. 6:4
  • Lawsuits within a church proclaim that the church is already defeated. 6:7
  • It would be better to be cheated than to give God a bad name. 6:7

2. Another perspective.

  • Usually the purpose of a lawsuit is to gain temporary stuff, but what is really important is the kingdom of God. 6:9
  • Neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor male prostitutes, nor homosexual offenders, nor thieves nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. 6:9-10

3. The antidote.

  • God cleanses us from our sin and makes us fit for heaven. 6:11
  • God has washed us, sanctified us, and justified us. 6:11
  • God has done this in the name of Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of God. 6:11
