The Spirit’s Temple

I Corinthians 6:12-20

1. The two will become one flesh. I Cor. 6:16

  • Those with Gnostic tendencies within the Corinthian Church said, “Everything is permissible for me”- Paul’s response, “but not everything I beneficial.” 6:12
  • The body is not meant for sexual immorality, but for the Lord. 6:13
  • Do you not know that he who unites himself with a prostitute is one with her in body? 6:16

2. Flee from sexual immorality. I Cor. 6:18

  • Sexual sin leaves it’s mark on our bodies. 6:18
  • There is often a progression to sin, first we see, then we think and finally we do.

3. You were bought at a price. I Cor. 6:20

  • In Christ, our bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit! 6:19
  • Our bodies are not our own, they belong to God. 6:19
  • Let us honor God with our Bodies! 6:20
