Jonah 1:1-17
1. Runaway.
- God called Jonah to go one way, but he chose to go another. Jonah 1:1-3
- God did not give up on Jonah or on the people of Nineveh. Jonah 1:2 & 4
- Sometimes it takes storms in our lives to move us to a place where we will respond to God. Jonah 1:17
2. There are no atheists in foxholes.
- The sailors knew that there was a “god” responsible for their plight. Jonah 1:6
- God revealed that the problem was Jonah. Jonah 1:7
- Why do we wait until all else fails to pray? Jonah 1:6
3. You cannot outrun God.
- This story is bigger than Jonah, he was important, but so were others.
- If God had allowed Jonah to remain in hiding, would Nineveh have been lost?
- Jonah was so weak he forced the crew to throw him overboard. Jonah 1:15
- God is faithful! Jonah 1:17
