Sovereign God
May 9th, 2010Jonah 4:1-11
1. A Compassionate God.
- When God saw what they did and how they turned from their evil ways, he had compassion… Jonah 3:10
- I knew that you are a gracious and compassionate God slow to anger and abounding in love, a God who relents from sending calamity. Jonah 4:2
2. Jonah; the spoiled brat.
- Jonah excused his failure, by blaming it on God. Jonah 3:2
- Jonah valued a vine more than the 120 thousand people who lived in Nineveh. Jonah 4:10-11
- Jonah judged everything by how he felt it affected him.
3. God is the important one.
- If we put ourselves first in life our priorities will be wrong.
- If we serve God, if we trust him even when we don’t understand we will have peace.
- Jesus answered: “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind;; and , ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.” Luke 10:27
